St Jean de Luz - Guethary villa near beach with pool & sea view - Villa Choriekin is perfect for a large group or for families wishing to holiday together.
Situated between the attractive little village of Guethary and the chic town of Saint Jean de Luz, the villa and its annex– really a second villa in its own right – have been built to the traditional Basque design with a contemporary angle. The large terrace is ideal for meals, for sunbathing or for relaxing with a book or your Kindle. Air conditioning at first floor level in both houses is a bonus, and you can walk down to the beach, the coastal footpath and a couple of summer restaurants.
There are many sandy beaches along this coastline and lots of water sports on offer. Only seven miles north, elegant Biarritz hosts the world-famous Surf Festival, and golfers ar ewell catered for in the area.. Just down the road is St Jean de Luz, a jewel in the Basque Country. This is a town full of charm, from the colourful boats moored in the port to the delightful squares and pleasant pedestrian streets lined with boutique shops and restaurants. It is the last major town before the Spanish border: heading south the next major town you come to is Saint Sebastian.
We are in France of course, but also in the Basque country, which has a rich culture and heritage still visible today in the distinctive architecture, traditional dress and language of the region. A corner stone of Basque cuisine is the Espelette pepper, used in the production of Bayonne ham;if you head into the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains to the village of Espelette just half an hour away, you can see these red peppersdrying in the traditional way – quite a sight! The stunning Pyrenees are also close by for walking, hiking, cycling, rafting or birdwatching, if you enjoy an active style of holiday.
